How to create abstract cosmic snowflake in Adobe Illustrator

In this tutorial we will take a detailed look at the process of creating a glowing cosmic snowflake, using only standard features of Adobe Illustrator. We will also create a dynamic template that allows you to quickly change the appearance of a snowflake. You can use this template to generate snowflakes of different shapes and glowing abstract compositions.

Open Adobe Illustrator, then go to File New…. In the dialog box, set the required size of the artboard and select the RGB color mode.
Take the Rectangle Tool (M) and create a rectangle that corresponds to the size of the artboard. Fill the Rectangle with linear gradient from blue (R = 0; G = 60; B = 94) to dark blue color (R = 26; G = 0; B = 51) at an angle of 45 degrees. You can use other colors, but keep in mind that the background color will affect the color of the snowflakes. Dark shades of basic colors are normally used for these purposes.
Lock the Background in the Layers panel.
Using the center of a rectangle create a circle with no fill and a stroke of any color and width. Use Ellipse Tool (L) for these purposes. During the creation of the circle hold down Option / Alt + Shift. You can find the center of the artboard by turning on the Smart Guides mode (Cmd / Ctrl + U), if it has not yet been turned on you.
Use the Line Tool () create a horizontal line segment from the center of the circle while holding down Shift. End of the segment must go beyond the circle.
Take the Rotate Tool (R) then click at the left point of the segment, holding down the Option / Alt. At the open dialog box, set the angle of 30 degrees, click on the Copy button.
Select the ends of both segments on the left using the Lasso Tool (Q), then use the Cmd / Ctrl + J to unite them.
Select the resulting path and the circle, then click on the Divide in the Pathfinder panel.
Ungroup objects (Shift + Ctrl + G) and remove larger object.
